What counts as a seat on Kahunas and on Trainerize

On Kahunas a seat is an active client or a team member. The owner and leads take none. You cannot add clients or team members until you move to more seats, and team seats are listed among the features of the 50 to 99 band.

On Trainerize a coaching client seat goes to a client with full app access or an Offline client, who has no login. Basic clients, who can only book and buy, use no seat. Trainer seats are counted apart, up to 3 on Pro 30 and Pro 50.

Take a trainer with 50 clients leaving Kahunas, plus one assistant coach. That is 51 Kahunas seats, in the 50 to 99 band at $2.00 a seat billed monthly, or $1.60 billed yearly. On Trainerize it is Pro 50, $135 a month billed monthly or $122 billed annually, and the assistant takes a trainer seat.

Features by Kahunas seat band and by Trainerize add-on

Kahunas unlocks features as the seat band grows. White label starts at 200 seats, and the client app can carry your logo, color and menu. Kahunas says it takes no cut of what clients pay you, and its AI credit packs are $10, $45 and $70 a month.

Trainerize sells add-ons by need on paid plans below Studio, each billed monthly: Advanced Nutrition Coaching at $20 (Grow, Pro 5 and Pro 15) or $45 (Pro 30 and up), Business $25, Video Coaching $10 and Stripe Integrated Payments $10. Business already contains the Stripe and video add-ons, per the help center. At $275 a month billed monthly, Studio Plus bundles all of them. These are software features, not nutrition, medical or legal advice.

Trial and card at Kahunas and Trainerize

Trainerize starts its 30-day trial with no card, while Kahunas takes a card at sign-up for its 14-day trial. Kahunas's pricing page says Stripe charges nothing until the trial ends. A founder's note on that page offers a personal refund; it is not a stated refund policy.

Per Trainerize's help center, the trial takes unlimited active clients, the account reverts to the free plan with 1 coaching client when it ends, and add-ons are not part of the trial. Its pricing page says unused portions of a subscription are not refunded.

Which coach fits Kahunas and which fits Trainerize

  • Kahunas for a solo coach who wants the price per seat to fall as the roster grows.
  • Trainerize for a coach who wants add-ons one by one, the free plan with 1 coaching client, or Studio Plus with every add-on.
  • Kahunas fits poorly if assistants should not use seats: team members count as seats, and white label starts at 200.

Trainerize vs PT Distinction covers per-client extras, and personal trainer software cost compares more apps.
